Atlas6 “Burrow”: A Low-Cost, High-Impact Bunker Buster
In the brutal trench and fortification warfare that defines much of the Ukrainian front, Russian forces have increasingly relied on deep earthen bunkers and reinforced dugouts for protection. These positions are notoriously difficult—and expensive—to neutralize using traditional air-delivered munitions.
In response, Atlas6Labs, working closely with Ukrainian frontline engineers and operators, has developed the Atlas6 Burrow: a rugged and innovative strike variant of the Atlas6 drone platform designed to deliver low-cost, improvised penetrators directly into fortified earthworks.
The Concept: Pipe-Based Penetration Strike
At the heart of the Burrow system is an elegantly simple weapon: a 25kg steel pipe, filled with explosives and fitted with a time-delay fuse. Dropped from the Atlas6 platform, this munition isn’t just cheap—it’s devastatingly effective.
Two-Stage Delivery Strategy:
- Initial Strike – The first pipe is dropped from altitude directly into the roof or entrance of an enemy bunker. Upon detonation, it creates a deep crater or breach—typically 4 to 5 meters into hardened ground or trench roofing.
- Follow-Up Drop – Seconds or minutes later, a second pipe bomb is dropped directly into the newly formed crater, penetrating deeper before detonation—neutralizing the buried target with precision.
Variant Features
- 2 pipe release system for multiple sequential drops
- Custom drop guidance to align second strike with initial crater
- Adjustable altitude drops for varied soil penetration requirements
- Time-delay fusing to ensure maximum underground effect
- Optional AI flight path control for follow-up precision delivery
Why It Works
- Low-Cost Materials – Each munition can be fabricated using surplus steel piping and commercial-grade explosives, making it vastly cheaper than conventional bunker-busting weapons.
- No Need for High-Speed Kinetics – The depth is achieved through smart sequencing, not high-velocity impacts.
- Adaptable for Field Conditions – Entire payload sets can be assembled near the front and tailored to the type of enemy fortifications encountered.
Tested by the Troops, for the Troops
This solution was designed side-by-side with Ukrainian engineers in the Donetsk region, where Atlas6 drones have been used daily for targeting coordination and strike missions. Atlas6 Burrow is now being evaluated for scaled field deployment to combat entrenched Russian positions in eastern Ukraine.

Impact Without the Price Tag
In a war where innovation often outpaces budgets, Atlas6 Burrow offers a breakthrough:
a reusable UAV platform combined with extremely affordable munitions to dismantle hardened enemy defenses.
