Introducing Atlas6 Hunter: Kinetic Counter to Shahed Drones

Posted on January 10, 2025 by admin

As loitering munitions like the Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 continue to threaten critical infrastructure and civilian areas across Ukraine, Atlas6Labs is proud to unveil a new variant of our modular UAV platform: the Atlas6 Hunter.

Built on the proven heavy-lift Atlas6 airframe, the Hunter is a rapid-response drone interceptor designed specifically to track, pursue, and neutralize slow-flying kamikaze drones using kinetic effectors.

Mission Profile: Counter-Loitering Threats

The Shahed-136 poses a unique challenge—low speed, low altitude, and swarm usage make traditional air defenses inefficient and cost-prohibitive. The Atlas6 Hunter addresses this asymmetry with:

  • High-endurance flight time to patrol key target zones
  • Visual and EW tracking integration to autonomously lock onto loitering munitions
  • Multiple interceptor options, including:
    • Short-range air-to-air munitions (AAM)
    • Onboard deployable fragmentation charges or net-based kinetic effectors
    • Hardpoint or belly-mounted low-cost interceptor pods

Key Capabilities

  • Autonomous Shahed recognition and pursuit, integrated with onboard visual and thermal systems
  • Custom payload bays for modular interceptor types
  • Data fusion with ground-based radar or passive detection networks
  • Integration with AI-based threat prioritization systems, such as Nemesis AI

Developed with Frontline Insight

Like all Atlas6Labs variants, the Hunter was developed in direct collaboration with front-line Ukrainian operators who identified the urgent need for mobile, scalable counter-Shahed solutions. This drone is not just a prototype—it’s a battlefield-driven response to a real and persistent threat.

What’s Next?

Atlas6Labs is currently field-testing several kinetic interception mechanisms and working with partner nations to refine threat-tracking algorithms and reduce false positives. Live demonstrations and deployment trials are planned for Q3 2025.

As drone warfare evolves, so must the systems designed to stop it. Atlas6 Hunter represents a bold step toward affordable, scalable drone-on-drone air defense.
